Michael and Ancient Mariner

I really liked reading these poems because I could actually find points in the poem that reinforced what i felt the poem was trying to show. For instance, with Michael you could see how his parents had sheltered him too much because as the outside world changed and advanced they stayed on their farm and continued to live life as they knew it. Being older parents I just do not feel they knew any better. There were just as unaware as their son was of the tempations the outside world would bring.

As far as the Ancient Mariner I really enjoyed interperting this poem. When people comment back on my points and agree with them and can relate to what i was saying it really helps me to want to continue on reading literature. The moral of the story was regardless of what God's creatures look like they are still God's creatures and to kill for no just reason other than to just do it will have ramifications. How they tie in this Biblical statement with the rest of poem is really enjoyable because once I read it and related it back to what I felt was the point of the poem I was just... oh so that is why they mentioned this. I think when a person is exposed to poems that they really can relate to and pick out good points it encourages further exploration into other readings.

My First Blog!

I am new to this blogging idea so I guess I am just suppose to write down my random thoughts... which shouldnt be too hard because I have several things going through my head! Here it goes....

Well here we are at the end of March and I am finally realizing how little time there is left to complete all the projects I have due! Its scary... because I have been eagerly awaiting the end of the semester because it means my boyfriend comes back from his tdy, but yet I find myself wanting the time to stop going by so fast so I can catch up! :) I guess I can't have it both ways... and no matter what by the end of the semester I always seem to somehow get it done!

As far as this class goes I am having a good experience so far with this internet course. I didn't know how well I would do because I never really had to interpret literature before. I know this my sound a little goofy but it makes me so excited to see people comment back and agree with what I wrote. I am like wow! Not only did I actually understand what I read but other people can see my points too! I really enjoy it... now after I finish the essay I might be a little more frustrated ha ha! Well that is about all I have to say right now... really I would like to be able to go back to bed and take a nap for awhile!!! If only right.... :)
